Xplosion Re-sign Former Quarterback, Skelton
Former Xplosion quarterback Billy Skelton worked out with his old team Thursday night, and Head Coach Mike Sparks plans on dressing the Hillsdale College graduate for Friday's game against the Miami Valley Silverbacks. "It's in our best interest to bring Bill back at this point in the season," said Sparks. "It's a long season, and it only makes sense to use your resources. Bill said from the beginning of the season if we ever needed anything to give him a call. We're happy to have him back for now, and we'll re-evaluate our situation each week from here on out." Skelton made a name for himself by starting in all 14 games in 2007, but was unable to re-join the team initially because of the long trek from Fort Wayne, Ind. and a high school football coaching job he committed to. Skelton becomes the second former Xplosion player to re-join the squad after linebacker T.J. Tyus was brought back in Week 6. "It's a great opportunity to come back," said Skelton. "And having that core group of players back from last season is nice because I played with them all last year and know how they play the game, so that's beneficial for me."

Xplosion Makes Playoffs for Second Straight YearWith last week's 36-28 win over the Rock River Raptors, the Xplosion secured a playoff spot for the second straight year. In 2007, Kalamazoo hosted the Chicago Slaughter in round two of the playoffs and won 51-40, but lost in the Great Lakes Conference Championship game. Even if the Xplosion were to lose its remaining three games, it would finish 8-4 and no worse than second place in the East division. With one more win in its final three games, two of which being at home, the Xplosion would host a playoff game at Wings Stadium, where the Black & Gold are a perfect 11-0. |

It took all 60 minutes for the Xplosion to pull of the win Saturday night. What's new? With three overtime games under its belts, the Xplosion were used to games coming down to the wire and used that experience to knock off the Rock River Raptors (3-5), 36-28, at the Rockford Metrocentre. |
